Kumar Sporting FC a été fondé en 2005 par un groupe d'hommes d'affaires de Guwahati. Le club a commencé à jouer dans la deuxième division de l'I-League en 2008 et a été promu en première division en 2011.

Kumar Sporting FC dispute ses matchs à domicile au stade Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium de Guwahati. Le stade a une capacité de 35 000 places.
