Wikipedia - AFC Cleveland
AFC Cleveland was an American semi-professional soccer club based in the Cleveland suburb of Independence, Ohio. Founded in 2011 and playing its first season in 2012, the team spent six years in the fourth-tier National Premier Soccer League. After being expelled from the NPSL at the end of the 2017 season, AFC Cleveland folded and was replaced by Cleveland SC, who began play in the NPSL in 2018.
History
Following the folding of the Cleveland Internationals in 2010, the city of Cleveland was without a soccer team. On November 11, 2011, AFC Cleveland announced that they would join the National Premier Soccer League.
AFC stands for A Fans' Club, signifying that the organization is for the fans and created by the fans, and was inspired by the English club AFC Wimbledon.
Le club a été fondé en 2021 et a fait ses débuts en USL en 2022. Il joue ses matchs à domicile au FirstEnergy Stadium, qu'il partage avec la franchise de football américain des Browns de Cleveland.
Les couleurs du SC Cleveland sont le bleu, le rouge et le blanc. Son logo représente un bouclier avec le monogramme "SC" en son centre, surmonté d'un aigle stylisé.
Le SC Cleveland est dirigé par l'entraîneur principal Martin Rennie et son directeur général est Mike Forde. L'équipe compte un certain nombre de joueurs expérimentés, dont l'ancien milieu de terrain de l'équipe nationale américaine Darlington Nagbe et l'attaquant international jamaïcain Andre Gray.
Le SC Cleveland a pour objectif de devenir un club de premier plan en USL et de se qualifier pour les play-offs chaque année. Le club souhaite également développer des talents locaux et contribuer à la croissance du soccer dans la région de Cleveland.
